More Ohioans are making plans to lock up their houses for a week or two this spring and go somewhere anywhere be there a pandemic or no pandemic.
Cindy Nelson is seeing it play out in Lima, and so is Patrick DeHaan statewide.
Nelson, the manager of Lima AAA, has continually watched people come into the travel service with one thing on their mind, a road trip.
They’re not just talking about taking short jaunts, either.
“We have people looking at driving out to the Grand Canyon, especially if they have kids who are doing remote learning,” she said. “They’re taking advantage of the time to be able to do that.”

LIMA A Lima man who enjoyed his 15 minutes of fame when his homemade pies were featured on the “Shark Tank” television program was back behind bars earlier this week.
Calvin Goode, 58, was arrested Wednesday by Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies for violating conditions of the Allen County Re-entry Court by testing positive on multiple occasions for marijuana and also testing positive for alcohol consumption, according to court records.
Goode was released from prison last April after serving more than half of a four-year sentence on robbery, drug and weapons charges.

Phoenix Police and the FBI are investigating the incident, after the funeral for the Phoenix civil rights icon was disrupted by people who used racial slurs.

Phoenix Police Department and the FBI are investigating after a virtual funeral for civil rights icon and city leader Calvin Coolidge Goode was interrupted Tuesday, January 12 by hackers yelling racist slurs.
According to Sgt. Margaret Cox with the Phoenix Police Department, unknown persons were heard making derogatory and racial statements at around 10:20 a.m. on Jan. 12, as the virtual service was being held.

PHOENIX The FBI and Phoenix Police Department are investigating after hackers shouting racial slurs interrupted a virtual memorial Tuesday for Phoenix civil rights icon Calvin Goode.
The Historic Tanner Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church hosted a livestream on its Facebook page, with family members, city officials and friends speaking through Zoom. Mayor Kate Gallego was speaking when someone began shouting slurs a half-hour into the service.
Gallego confirmed that an investigation was underway and condemned the hate speech.
