A 30-year-old Huntingtown man who was arrested in September 2022 on charges of possession of child pornography was sentenced Jan. 26 in federal court in Greenbelt to seven years in
U.S. District Judge Theodore D. Chuang sentenced Tyler Edward Perkins, age 30, of Huntingtown, Maryland, today to seven years in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for possession of child pornography.
In 2023, the State’s Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges in 135 cases in the Circuit Court for Calvert County. Most, if not all, of these cases involved felonies. In addition, the State prosecuted 70 cases in which a jury trial or appeal had been requested in the District Court, and one case that was transferred from St. Mary’s County, for a total of 206 new Circuit Court prosecutions in 2023.
