Game commission biologists while conducting spring inventories of elk in the logged-off area north of the Lewis and Clark river in Clatsop county have observed an unusual light color phase in one cow elk. The entire body coloring from nose to tip of tail is a solid yellowish-white shade. The usual darker color of the shoulders is absent, and the mane of this animal likewise is blonde.

May 6, 1971For the second year in a row, the Crook County High School High-Q team retired as three-time winners on the KGW-TV quiz program.The team of Jim Boyden, John Jenson, Monty Jackson and Bruce Williams scored one of the highest tallies ever on the program. They are coached by Mrs. Virginia Sullivan.The staff at the television studio are said to have commented that the CCHS students comprised the best team ever seen on the program.
