Kansas art, local creations and state project part of museum intrigue

Pratt Tribune The recent Community Art Class displays for summer work have gone back to their creators, but there is still plenty of inspiring and enjoyable artwork to view and interact with at the Vernon Filley Art Museum this summer in Pratt, according to museum co-director Brittany Novotny. We ve had a lot of visitors in to enjoy the Two Visions - One Prairie exhibit, and have even sold several of those paintings. They feature a lot of Kansas landscapes that people really seem to connect with, Novotny said. Two Kansas painters, Cally Krallman and Bev Radefeld, visited several picturesque sites around Kansas and each painted their own vision of the views, resulting in side-by-side comparisons of colorful pastures, old barns, gully-washouts, skylines, sun-scapes and more.

Cally Krallman and Beverly Dodge-Radefeld highlight different perspectives in paintings

Pratt Tribune A unique exhibit is now open at the Vernon Filley Art Museum in Pratt that features Kansas artists Cally Krallman and Bev Radefeld. This exhibit places work from two different perspectives of the same scene side-by-side for careful consideration. It’s call “Two Visions-One Prairie” and it is open to the public during museum open hours from now until Satruday, August 7. The inspiration for this show began as friends Cally Krallman and Bev Radefeld embarked on a road trip delivering art to galleries. A favorite aspect of these road trips was to stop along quiet country roadsides and either paint or photograph the beautiful Kansas landscape.

Deines Cultural Center opens Two visions, one prairie on Jan 15

Deines Cultural Center press release The next art exhibition at the Deines Cultural Center is Two Visions – One Prairie. Cally Krallman and Beverly Dodge-Radfeld, both of Topeka have put together a collection of work which celebrates the color and majesty of the Kansas Prairie. Both Krallman and Dodge-Radfeld earned their Bachelor of Fine Arts from Washburn University and have been nationally recognized for their work. Dodge-Radfeld says, “I love the simple shapes of the Flint Hills and the color of the open sky. My oil paintings have been the vehicle for me to express these feelings and have allowed me to capture the movement and colors of the soft sculptures that I enjoy.”
