Callum Pillman and Shaun Taylor attacked 19-year-old Marcus Goold in a public park at Ilfracombe in January after arranging to meet to buy cocaine from him. He suffered five deep knife wounds and only survived because the first policeman at the scene cleared his airway and used chest compressions to bring him back to life. He lost consciousness and was sure he was going to die. He was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where surgeons removed his spleen and part of his bowel in a life-saving emergency operation.

Shaun Taylor and Callum Pillman set upon Marcus Goold, 19, after arranging to buy cocaine from him in a park in Ilfracombe, Devon, a court heard. Taylor, 29, of Barnstaple, and Pillman, 21, of Bideford, admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Pillman was jailed for 11 years and four months while Taylor got 10 years and six months at Exeter Crown Court.

Callum Pillman and Shaun Taylor both pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm when they appeared at Exeter Crown Court by video link from prison. They both denied the more serious offence of attempted murder, which is to be dropped by the prosecution. Victim Marcus Goold suffered a number of potentially life-threatening stab wounds during the attack at Bicklescombe Park, Ilfracombe, on the night of January 23 this year.

Court Reporter Exeter Crown Court - Credit: Archant Two men have pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of a 19-year-old who was stabbed during an alleged robbery in a park in North Devon.  Callum Pillman, 21, of Heathfield Road, East the Water, Bideford, and Shaun Taylor, aged 29, of Crosslands, Barnstaple, denied attempted murder and robbery when they appeared at Exeter Crown Court.   The men are accused of attacking and robbing Marcus Goold of a mobile phone at Bicclescombe Park, Ilfracombe, on the night of Saturday, January 23, this year.  They both appeared before Judge Peter Johnson, the Recorder of the City of Exeter, by video link from the city’s prison and were remanded in custody.

Callum Pillman, 21, of Heathfield Road, East-the-Water, Bideford, and 29 year old Shaun Taylor, of Crosslands, Sticklepath, Barnstaple, have been charged with the attempted murder of Marcus Goold on Saturday, January 23. They are also charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Mr Goold with intent to do him grievous bodily harm, and robbing him of an iPhone on the same day. Both defendants appeared before Exeter Magistrates Court on Friday, January 29 and were remanded in custody.
