Nagaland Police notifies on traffic offences

Dimapur, Aug. 12 (EMN): Nagaland Police has informed that in view of the increase in the number of vehicle accidents along the Kohima-Dimapur National Highway including private and commercial vehicles, Nagaland Police has been conducting enforcement drive against violators along the National Highway in Dimapur as well as Kohima for the past few weeks. SP (Crime) and PRO, PHQ, in a press release notified the public on the various offences under the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 and other notifications under which the Nagaland Police has been enforcing. Nagaland Police appealed to the general public to follow the provisions of the law, and in case of violations to pay the fines only under proper challan and to the authorized police officers only. Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): The Wokha inspection team constituted to check toll gates caught two staff of the Geology and Mining department issuing transit pass at Sanis “O” point junction under Sanis sub-division, Wokha district without proper procedure and in contravention to government order and directives. An FIR was further was lodged by the inspection team at Sanis Police Station for proper investigation and further necessary action against the two staff — BenthungoTungoe and  Tensumanen Jamir — who were found in this connection. Nagaland Police sets up 24x7 Control Room to combat illegal taxation; only 13 inter-state check gates to remain

Dimapur, May 23 (EMN): Just days after the government of Nagaland ordered the closure of all check gates in the state with the exception of a few in the borders, in order to curb illegal collection of money from vehicles by various organizations and individuals, the Nagaland Police has set up a dedicated 24×7 Control Room for combating illegal collection of money. An update from SP Crime informed that the control room will be headed by a senior Police officer and manned by sufficient personnel to combat illegal collection of money at check gates and other locations in the state. Besides the existing helpline number – 112 –, citizens can contact the control room for any complaints and information regarding illegal collection of money from vehicles or presence of any unauthorised persons at the check gates through the dedicated phone numbers: 8798881978/ 8798881979 or email to PCRillegalcollection@gmail.com.
