40,000 people are packing into the city for the three day event, again, beginning tomorrow. They are bringing with them a lot of traffic, and a lot of money. The conference is expected to pump about 90 million into the local economy , but there is a lot riding on this year, after salesforce ceo mark benioff suggested it could be the last, if the citys ongoing issues with homelessness and drugs end up impacting the event. Its year the team of expert researchers puts together the report to document, statebystate, the situation of human rights around the world. With 159 countries and this years report, we have been able to identify some very common themes that we are seeing across the globe. Is the worrying rise in state sponsored discrimination and hate, which we have seen here in the United States as well. A more promising fame, is that we are also seeing rising levels of activism.
