Calium Turnage, 59, of Ypsilanti, is accused of depositing monthly checks of between $3,000 and $4,000 from a 91-year-old Ypsilanti man between July 2016 and December 2017. Officials said Turnage had been driving the man around and performing odd jobs for him.

An Ypsilanti man has been sentenced to jail and probation as well as ordered to pay restitution for embezzling more than $100,000 from a senior citizen, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel s office announced Tuesday.
Calium Turnage appeared Monday before Washtenaw County Circuit Court Judge Patrick Conlin. Last month, the 59-year-old entered a plea deal in which he pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult over $100,000, a 20-year felony.
Conlin sentenced him to six months in jail, which is held in abeyance during the probation period, and two years’ probation, state officials said in a statement. Turnage also must pay about $140,000 in restitution to the estate of the victim, who is dead.

Officials said 59-year-old Calium Turnage pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement of a vulnerable adult over $100,000, which is a 20-year felony. As part of a deal, Turnage is ordered to pay $140,000 in restitution and additional charges were dropped.
