California Priest Dies After Church COVID Outbreak
The church is closed for in-person worship for the next few days and will stream services online.
“We are deeply touched and grateful for the prayers and support so many of you have sent for those of us (clergy and staff) who tested positive for COVID,” according to an announcement on the church’s website homepage.
“We are sorry to say that Fr. Bob Stein passed away early on the morning of Feb. 16,” the announcement said. “Please pray for the repose of his soul.”
Stein, two other priests, and three caregivers contracted the virus, the newspaper reported. The church decided not to hold Mass during the Feb. 13 weekend and closed the sanctuary for private prayer.
