The numbers of Californians living in poverty or near-poverty edged upward this year as federal pandemic programs expired, according to a new survey by the Public Policy Institute of California
"According to the Census Bureau, the median income in Santa Cruz County was $96,000 in 2021," writes the Editorial Board. "That figure was up by nearly 7% from 2020, when the pandemic was raging. The poverty rate for the county in 2021 was 10.6%."
