Federal and local arson investigators are in the bay area tonight trying to figure out what caused this fire to the building under construction. You lost everything . Yes. They are among the 7 to 900 nearby residents who were evacuated because of a crane tletdened to collapse. The fouralarm fire broke out at 24th street near broadway at 4 30 this morning. We have Team Coverage starting with leslie brinkly. Reporter at 4 30 in the morning an Apartment Building ruptured into an enormous fire. It forced them to take a defensive stance because the crane took on heat which caused it to spin wildly. The skafledding prompting urgent evacuations at nearby buildings. Hes an egregious felon and long before accused of the random shooting in San Francisco, they say he was a seventime felon. They say four of those convictions were for narcotics. The other three were for illegal reentry after deportation and as you mentioned, he was deorbited five times in the past and a spokesperson said that his rap sheet is very long and dates back to 1991. And theyre saying that the department of Homeland Security data busses show that he was turned over to local authorities in San Francisco in march on an outstanding drug warrant. And so part of the statement was that dhs records indicate ice lodged an immigration retain or that subject at that time anything notification prior to his release to make arrangements to take custody. That taper was not honored. Detainer was not honored. That means they asked to be notified when he was released and that didnt happen. The San Francisco county Sheriffs Office did not let them know. When we reached out to them, they said we
