Seventy-two-year-old, fourth-generation retired shrimper Diane Wilson has been without food for 16 days. Her 1995 red Chevy, nicknamed âRosie,â has become a mobile campsite, and each morning she posts up on a causeway at the waterfront of Texasâs Lavaca Bay, expending just enough energy to switch out a sign displaying the number of days sheâs been on hunger strike and drape a banner off the side of the truck blaring the message: âSTOP THE DREDGING. STOP OIL EXPORT.â

The board also approved contracting for election services with the Calhoun County Elections Administration.
Port Director Charles Hausmann said the cost for the election for three districts as at $15,268.
District 1 is up and is currently held by Tony Holladay, who has filed for re-election. He has drawn a challenger as Casey Sharp has filed for the seat.
Also, up for election is District 5, which is currently held by Johnny Perez, who has filed for re-election.
District 6, currently held by Tony Wehmeyer, is also up for this election.
During the boardâs regular meeting on Feb. 10, they approved hiring Belaire Environmental, Inc. for consulting services mitigation site design, bidding and construction monitoring for the South Peninsula Development Project.
Max Midstream And Calhoun Port Authority Announce Port Expansion
Max Midstream and the Calhoun Port Authority today announced that with the recent passage of the Water Resources and Development Act by Congress that expansion of the Calhoun Port will begin in 2021. The national legislation included language pursued by both Max and the CPA that authorizes the deepening and widening of the port.
“This is another great step forward for Texas energy and for markets around the world seeking Texas crude,” said Max Midstream CEO Todd Edwards. “Now that Congress has approved the deepening and widening of the Calhoun Port, Max Midstream will expedite the process by financing the expansion directly. By early 2023 the deepening and widening will be complete and 20 million barrels per month will be shipped out of the port.” The preliminary engineering and design work is already underway.
