CHARLESTON Two deaths from the virus were reported Tuesday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, a 73-year-old woman from Ohio County and a 77-year-old woman from Wyoming County, the department said.
The total number of deaths in West Virginia stands at 2,747, the state said in its Tuesday morning update on the pandemic.
New active cases of the virus were 328 in the 24-hour period from Monday to Tuesday, an increase from the 293 new cases from Sunday to Monday morning, but lower than 455 from Friday to Saturday morning and 415 from Saturday to Sunday morning.
Total active cases as of Tuesday morning were 7,347, a drop of 123 from the 7,470 on Monday. Active cases, reported Saturday morning at 7,206, are at their highest since the end of February and have been increasing since around mid-March.

CHARLESTON Active cases of the COVID-19 virus dropped by 20 in Wood County in the 24-hour period from Tuesday to Wednesday morning, according to the latest statistics from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Active cases in Wood County were at 146 as of Wednesday morning, down from 166 on Tuesday.
Active cases across the state over the 24-hour period slightly increased from 6,263 to 6,278.
Peaking the first week of January at more than 29,000 people, active cases were on a downward trend until two weeks ago when it reached a recent low 5,157. New cases of the virus increased by 416 between Tuesday and Wednesday.

CHARLESTON Two Wood County residents and one Jackson County resident were among the COVID deaths, reported Tuesday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
The DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 79-year-old female from Wood County, an 80-year-old male from Wood County and an 81-year-old male from Jackson County.
The DHHR also confirmed the deaths of a 64-year-old female from Lincoln County, a 68-year-old female from Logan County, an 85-year-old male from Boone County, a 53-year-old male from Lincoln County, a 53-year-old female from Cabell County, an 81-year-old male from Marion County, a 64-year-old male from Kanawha County, a 71-year-old female from Wayne County, a 71-year-old male from Preston County, an 80-year-old male from Cabell County, a 69-year-old female from Logan County and a 74-year-old female from Boone County.
