A suspect is in custody after a carjacking and two-county chase Thursday morning.
The incident began in Chilton County. Sheriff John Shearon said the suspect – who has not yet been publicly identified – was reportedly driving a vehicle reported stolen out of Birmingham. He used that stolen vehicle to ram the back of a white Toyota Sequoia driven by a woman.
When the woman got out of the vehicle to check for damage, the suspect brandished a gun and took her Sequoia. Multiple agencies began to pursue the suspect. Those agencies included in the chase were the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office, and police from Clanton, Thorsby, Jemison, Calera, Pelham and Alabaster.
