It might not be the same social in-person setting dedicated to spreading awareness, education, and showing the support most associate with Pride, but this year Caledon Pride is hoping to do the most they can given the circumstance of the pandemic.
With the recent retirement of Peel Pride, Caledon Pride led by founder Julia Bertola is helping as many of the organizations in the area that they can get ready for June. Caledon Pride is a grassroots 2SLGBTQ+ advocacy group that’s dedicated to creating an inclusive community for all in Caledon by working with local organizations to bring programming to the community and promote 2SLGBTQ+ advocacy year-round.

Both their marquee holiday events Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) and the Home for the Holidays Gala were hits despite the pandemic leading to some changes this year.
Due to the pandemic, the registration fees were waved for CNOY this year, but COVID-19 didn’t slow people down from supporting their neighbours in these trying times by getting out for a COVID-safe walk in support of people experiencing homelessness, hurt, and hunger.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the local community organizations have buckled down to ensure residents of Caledon have been able to receive the care or resources they require.
Caledon Community Services (CCS) has run into a series of challenges amid the pandemic but have continued to overcome through the help from community members, organizations and local businesses.
CCS’s The Exchange is a community kitchen where local residents can access healthy, fresh food, and information and tools needed to learn basic nutrition and how to prepare meals.
Their food support program allows residents to receive packed and nutritious meals for individuals and families in need.
