The Tomahawk Hatchet boys Swimming Team competed in the WIAA Sectional Meet on Saturday at Rhinelander High School. Tomahawk finished in fifth place. Rhinelander won the meet and Menomonie was second.
Of the 13 individual event swims that the Hatchets competed in, 11 of them were either personal best or at the very least season best swim times, 1 was a re-broken school record, and 2 were overall 2nd place finishes with times solid enough to qualify for the WIAA State Swim Meet, next Friday Feb. 5, 2021 to be held at the Waukesha South High School Natatorium.
Of the 3 relays that the Hatchets competed in, all three registered considerable season time drops with a 3rd place finish for the Medley Relay and a pair of 5th s for the Freestyle Relay teams.

The Tomahawk Hatchet Boys Swimming Team hosted Lakeland on Tuesday night and the T-Birds defeated the Hatchets 83-73.
Notable Hatchet finishes tonight included a double 1-2 punch by the 100 yard breaststroke team of Sophomore, Zach Hanse in 1st at 1:05.73, followed by Senior, Adam Hall in 2nd at 1:11.42, plus another 1-2 immediately following that the 400 yard Freestyle Relay teams - coming in 1st were the team of Alex Norman, Caleb Kretzschmar, Hall and Hanse and in 2nd was the team of Taje Casey, Noah Buckwalter, Cullen Flynn and Ethan Liebnitz.
The remainder of the 9 events saw the Hatchets take 2nd in every case. Three of those 2nd place finishes were real barn burners, the Medley Relay team of Kretzschmar, Hanse, Liebnitz and Hall came in just 1.1 seconds behind the team from Lakeland, and in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events the margins were even smaller, in the 50, Adam Hall came in 2nd just .03 seconds behind the Lakeland swimmer, and i

Saturday morning the Hatchets swam a rare Saturday morning meet in a GNC Dual, make-up meet vs. the Hawks from Shawano.
Both of the Hatchet relays did well, the 200 yard Medley Relay team and the 200 yard Freestyle Relay team took solid first place finishes, over 5 seconds faster than the Hawks teams in both events. Both relays featured Seniors Adam Hall and Ethan Liebnitz plus Junior Caleb Kretzschmar and Sophomore Zach Hanse.
Not to be outdone, the group of Seniors Cullen Flynn, Noah Buckwalter and Alex Norman, plus Sophomore Taje Casey scored all important point for us in their 200 and 400 yard Freestyle Relay events, taking 3rd in the 200 and 2nd in the 400.
