Lladk the dog sent to California rescue sanctuary
Battle to save dangerous canine from euthanasia ends in settlement with Clackamas County
Lladk, the Alaskan Malamute dog that Clackamas County had sentenced to euthanasia last year, will live out the rest of his days at a sanctuary in California.
Now the struggles of the dog s owners, Lanea and Caleb Kollenburn of Molalla, come to a bittersweet end.
After Lladk bit the Kollenburns then 15-month-old son in July 2020, a contracted hearings officer, Joe Turner, labeled Lladk as a dangerous dog. He decided the county would seize Lladk, and he sentenced the dog to euthanasia.

Lanea Kollenburn: We of course love our children and would never put them in harm s way, but the totality of circumstances must be considered
The Kollenburns of Molalla, owners of the dog Lladk, are suing Clackamas County and the Clackamas Board of County Commissioners in federal court for discrimination and asking for Lladk to be returned home.
The issue has been ongoing since July when Lladk bit Lanea and Caleb Kollenburn s then 15-month-old son on the head after the toddler had escaped out the doggy door, and Lladk was subsequently sentenced to euthanasia.

It has been a long fight for the Kollenburns, of Molalla, owners of dog Lladk, whose euthanasia date has been set and extended repeatedly. But they are not giving up on protecting their service dog and beloved family pet.
The latest euthanasia date was set for after 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, but that has been postponed to after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, so that a circuit court judge can hear a final appeal next week.
After Lladk bit Lanea and Caleb Kollenburn s toddler son in July in what the family calls a freak accident, the county decided to put Lladk down through euthanasia.
