police and police people deal with communities and of course that s a very hot issue, probably the hottest issue there is in the country in terms of social debates, police and how they treat people and how people believe they re being treated by police. and he puts it all together in one big witch s caldron now. it s all together now. and he s brewed it up. it s hot. everybody has an opinion. and i think he s in a minority opinion about this whole thing, but it s an opinion that s held by a third of the country. so i think we re going to go through this for a few more days. it will probably settle and we ll have something else to argue about. anyway, we re joined right now by rick tyler and joe rueben, first, let s get to rick. talk about all the country because it s not just republicans, sports is a truce. you know, even people with bad attitudes root for black athletes, they just do. and we live university of alabama they had, you know, couple centuries ago, not that long ago, back
well, the whack-a-mole program will continue until we start to name it. the prime minister of spain within hours of the attack called it jihadi terrorism. i think he start today take cues from president trump, from many leaders who are beginning to realize that in order for the west to get its head around what we re fighting, you have to name it and then once you name it, you can start to make the ideas, the caldron, the swimming pools that the radicals are swimming in, which is not only the violent behavioral problem, but the ideological underpinnings which is political islam, the jihadist insurgency that looks at secular democracies at their enemy, that looks to establish the caliphate globally. and we can t fight them until we name that and in the obama administration, a violent extremism, to violent islamism and jihadism.
the top of the administration, the targeting of the need for many americans to still feel this guy is on our side because we have been ostracized by the coastal elites and by the news media. it all feeds into one caldron of discontent that oddly enough buttresses this presidency. also another disturbance, i don t know if you noticed this but buried in some reporting it was either the times or the post was a snip-it about how part of the strategy now may be to go after individual tournl e journalists who are reporting on these stories to try and discredit them. yeah. look, every opportunity this white house has gotten to point out the rare times when the media has gotten it wrong and had to issue a correction, they ve hammered that. they ve banged that drum. so there s no other way to interpret this if this is what they re going to do other than
enabled him to win the election last year. it connects him with the voters and makes him seem like a man now he s the president. he is the chief magistrate. it is allowing him to basically wield power. it is giving him some conservative cover. just when conservatives were starting to stray, not happy about health care, makes him feel uncomfortable, throws susan rice to the caldron. you want susan rice to testify? she knows a lot of things. she knows a lot of things. it does not change the underlying dynamic. i think there ought to be an investigation. we re in a post-truth world. at some point let s find out what the truth s. let s get to the bottom of this, put everybody under oath. this keeps that story line alive that much longer. president of the united states accused now a private citizen of committing a crime and no evidence. it s shocking.
constituents much more than to the national party. that s hard to dislodge. and you have everything kind of responding in this social media caldron. and going on cable news and tweeting about it and it s just they are so unresponsive to the social media caldron in which we live. they re so less responsive to the conventional governings. sure he can fly air force one into that districts and rally up the crowd but he s threatened to do that before and hasn t really pulled the trigger. a white house source said to me that the typical political pressures are not in play. how does this play out. what are we going to be talking about next week when it comes to the freedom caucus members. do you think we re going to see the jim jordans out on the sunday shows taking an aim. or is there a sense that maybe led by mark meadows, who has
