The Calcutta High Court on Monday pulled up the Kolkata Police for denying permission for a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally at Kolkata twice without any apparent reason and by way of computer-generated responses.
The West Bengal government told the Calcutta High Court that rumour-mongering led to violence on Independence Day at a school and not the desecration of the national flag as claimed by BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.
The judge noted the fact that the accused had at the very inception of their relationship, informed the victim that he was married and also had a daughter and thus had no intention to exploit her sexually or financially.
The judge was prevented from holding court on Monday after TMC lawyers protesting against the protection he granted to BJP's Suvendu Adhikari barred access to his courtroom.
