The Calcutta High Court on Thursday dismissed a PIL highlighting the "brutal attack" on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers during raids conducted recently in relation to an alleged multi-crore ration distribution scam
While passing interim directions to halt plans for uprooting trees at a maidan in Kolkata, the Calcutta High Court said that the Maidan, shorn of trees, would irrevocably change the city "to a thirsty and arid space."
Justice Shampa Sarkar made the observation while dealing with a husband's plea challenging at least four orders passed ex-parte and in favour of his estranged wife in a matrimonial suit.
"If the elected reserved category candidate is not allowed the benefit of reservation, then the reservation policy will be frustrated," the Calcutta High Court said.
