I finally met the burlesque icon herself this past September while working the annual Asian Burlesque Festival. Her performance didn’t just serve up a burlesque extravaganza, but it was also a celebration of how beautiful and talented the Asian community truly is something I sorely needed, especially with the recent racism stemming from the global COVID pandemic.
