Will Warner-Discovery Merger Mean More Choices, Or Pricey Bundles?
May 21, 2021
In a move that will reverberate in Hollywood and streaming media for years to come, AT&T announced Monday it plans to spin off WarnerMedia into a new entertainment company led by Discovery CEO David Zaslov. This has sweeping implications for family entertainment.
Iconic brands such as Warner Bros. Pictures, TNT Sports, boundary-pushing TV network HBO, and consistently low-rated CNN will move under the same corporate roof as Discovery’s lifestyle and nature TV shows like “Property Brothers,” “90 Day Fiancé,” and “Shark Week.”
The deal, expected to clear regulatory approval next year, will result in job losses as roles are consolidated. But the effects on consumer choices and streaming costs are unclear. Formerly an NBC executive who worked alongside newly christened Warner Discovery CEO Zaslov, Tim Winter now heads up the Parents Television and Media Council (PTC) in Burbank.

You don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone. For many of us, eating in restaurants almost immediately became something we couldn’t do anymore when the coronavirus pandemic hit Alabama last March. If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that we should never take such joys – like dining out – for granted.
The restaurant industry has been hit hard in the past year. Lots of places shut down for weeks or months, some never reopened and those that have survived are offering more takeout, more outside dining and more space between tables. Now, more than ever, they need our support.
Staff, patrons remember Dallas restaurateur Tom Ruggeri as a great entertainer and friend

Anytime Paula Scholz hears an Elvis song, she thinks of Tom Ruggeri. She worked with him for 18 years, starting as a waitress, shuttling cocktails back and forth, then moving upward at Ruggeri’s restaurant to help with the business and, as she tells it, lovingly battle in a way you’d expect from a family-run joint.

The bakery was made famous by chef Buddy Valastro, who stars in the TV show
Cake Boss. The show started on TLC in 2009 and follows a lovable family of New Jersey chefs making over-the-top cakes.
When the bakery opened in Dallas in 2016, it was the first Carlo’s bakery in Texas. It was the company’s biggest shop opening in its history, and a shocking 7,000 people came to meet Valastro on Day One.
