BRIDGEWATER — Three Bridgewater College students were presented the John W. and Lurene M. Durna Award for Excellence in Pre-Law Studies, the college announced in a press release.
Desmonda Cathabel from Jakarta, Indonesia, studying at the Royal Academy of Music, has beaten off stiff competition from 11 other talented young singers to be named the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year.
The future of musical theatre is looking bright with students such as these finalists, who can all say, as Carlotta sings in Sondheim’s Follies, “I got through all of last year and I’m here.”
