as for the cafe manager tori johnson, he was very much loved by the people he worked with. they called him a compassionate leader who died exactly the way he lived, always looking out for others. here s friends talking about both victims. listen. i can t say enough about him. it doesn t surprise me. he was never going to leave. he never would have left his staff there. katrina was nothing short of formidable to be honest. she was probably the most intelligent person i knew. she had impeccable character. meantime the memorial at martins place where the shooting happened is growing by the second. you can see from the pictures there is an outpouring of love and respect for those who were involved and those who lost their lives. shep? trace gallagher in l.a., thanks very much. to a story we ve been reporting on for a while, remember the case of as prosecutors put it a man set up a trap to catch a teenager who
there isn t that divide and we don t see that ugliness that can come about in times of crisis. vicky, as you re there covering the victims in the hospital, have they i m sure they re investigating this, but do officials know how some of the victims were killed? could it possibilitiy hay possi friendly fire? reporter: look, as you just said, there is a current police investigation under way. these hostages were only released, the siege only ended some 11 hours ago, so it s still very early stages. as anna did mention before, it s thought that one of the victims, the cafe manager, was trying to wrestle the gun from the gunman when possibly a gun a shot was fired. but we still don t know for certain. an inquest is under way and a thorough police investigation is under way. now, the streets around the lindt cafe right in the middle of sydney cvd is still a crime
their lives first. what do you know about the actions of hostages inside that may have helped others, but cost their own lives? i don t know anything more than the general public does at this point. it s still very early days. what we know in sydney and australia is the new south wales police and the federal police and the authorities did an absolutely fantastic job dealing with what was a dreadful situation. it s still very early days in finding out actually what went on inside the cafe. and there will be a very full and thorough investigation of what actually did happen. but perhaps like you guys are hearing on the other side of the world, i ve also heard stories of heroism. i don t think what has gone on in the cafe has been confirmed yet. but i ve heard that the cafe manager, tori johnson, tackled
