BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay said the chatbot app named “Revie” can answer basic questions related to registration, electronic services, BIR forms, zonal value, and tax identification number verification.
The chatbot app is available on the bureau’s website, www.bir.gov.ph.
Dulay said that in cases where the taxpayer would need further clarification for his or her query, a revenue officer may be reached via the same platform.
“Having Revie to answer [a] large volume of queries, our people can now focus on more complex issues,” the BIR chief said.
He said the chatbot is an additional digital platform that taxpayers can use to reach the agency.

THE BUREAU of Internal Revenue (BIR) issued guidelines on how to determine the floor price for cigarettes, as well as heated and vapor tobacco products.
Revenue Regulations No. 7-2021 serves as the implementing rules and regulations for Republic Act (RA) 11346 that increased the excise taxes on so-called “sin” products such as tobacco and alcoholic beverages.
Under the guidelines, the agency said the minimum price of cigarette, heated and vapor tobacco products will be computed by adding the total production cost of the cheapest brand per tobacco product, the excise tax and the value-added tax (VAT).

BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay transferred Region 8-B Director Glen Geraldino to Cebu, while Cebu Regional Director Ed Pagulayan took over the former’s post.
Revenue Region 8-B was formerly attached to the Makati region, which is composed of the nearby cities of Pasay, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Taguig, and the town of Pateros.
Meanwhile, Assistant Revenue Directors Ramer Narvaez of Davao and Cristine Juliet Chua of Iloilo also swapped posts.
The BIR chief has been reshuffling key field officials since the start of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic last year in order to maximize tax collection from businesses. This, as he noted that many of the establishments have been crippled by the pandemic.
