Mid-Prairie junior wrestler Cael Garvey reached a major career milestone in the Golden Hawks regular season dual finale at Clear Creek Amana. With his pin of Mitchell Howard of Central DeWitt in just 44 seconds, Garvey captured the 100th win of his high school career. He spoke after the meet about the accomplishment. “It means that all of my years of wrestling have paid off. To get my name up on the wall in the wrestling room is a cool feeling. Great to know I have won 100 matches in three years at Mid-Prairie. I knew we were getting close but I didn’t know it was today. It was fun coming off the mat to everyone cheering.”

Mid-Prairie opened the night with a win over the Clippers on their home mat 42-33. The Golden Hawks got wins in contested matches from Malachai Sexton at 106, Owen Trimpe at 152, Vinnie Bowlin at 160, Kaden Meader at 170, Cael Garvey at 195, Josh Wallington at 220 and Gannon Callahan at 285, all by fall.

The Golden Hawks come into the night with an overall dual record of 12-10 on the year. They dropped two of three duals on Senior Night a week ago in Wellman, falling to RVC foes Wilton and West Liberty and getting a win over Durant. On the season, the Golden Hawks are led by Josh Wallington with a 32-3 record. The senior recorded his 100th career victory last week against Wilton. Senior Ben Meader at 182 has 31 wins this year, and juniors Cael Garvey and Gannon Callahan at 195 and 285 respectively each have 28 victories.
