Miss. No. 18 Ole Miss (36-15, SEC 16-11) sent a resounding statement to the NCAA postseason selection committee this past weekend as the Rebs won two of the three games against No. 2 Vanderbilt (36-12, SEC 17-9) in what was the final SEC match-up of the regular season at Swayze Field.
The Diamond Rebels had to stare adversity in the face to find success this weekend, and after watching ace Gunnar Hoglund go down to a season-ending injury last weekend, they did just that.

COLLEGE STATION, Tx. - In a series opener full of momentum shifts and offense, Will Frizzell had the final word on Friday as the Texas A&M Aggies knocked off Ole Miss with a walk-off solo home run at Blue Bell Park.
Right out of the gate with an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, Gunnar Hoglund had to be replaced on the mound by Derek Diamond after an injury started to affect his command of the ball. Diamond went four innings and gave up five runs on four hits with five strikeouts. Austin Miller went for a season high 2.2 innings and allowed just two hits while Jack Dougherty finished the game off and came away with the loss (1-1).

Ole Miss baseball followed up their recent series loss to Mississippi State with a close win over Little Rock on Tuesday night. This win puts Ole Miss at 27-10 overall, and 9-1 in midweek games.
The midweek game had a number of lineup changes. Sophomore Peyton Chatagnier started at third base for the first time this season, and freshman TJ McCants returned to the second base along with hitting in the leadoff position for the first time this season. Freshman Kemp Alderman had his first plate appearance and career start, while freshman Jack Dougherty also had his first start as a Rebel pitcher.

Mississippi was again the focus of the college baseball world this past weekend as Ole Miss traveled to Starkville for the Rebels’ toughest road test thus far. The Rebs ventured into enemy territory for a three-game series that capped one of the most challenging stretches in the best college baseball conference in the country, and while the weekend ended with Ole Miss dropping two of three games to arch-rival Mississippi State, there were several positives to draw on in the series.
