T C G A Clarifies Price for Cacao Farmers – Eighty-Five is the Final Price!

Jan 13, 2021 Justino Peck So, some of the San Jose Cacao farmers are not happy with the associations – those are the Toledo Cacao Growers Association and the Maya Mountain Cacao. Today, we reached out to the Chairman of the T.C.G.A., Justino Peck, who shared that since December, they have been recording an exceptionally high production. He explained that the beans seem to be heavily affected by the weather conditions, and as a result, they lost over four thousand pounds of beans from the first batch purchased in San Jose.  Peck says they started at one dollar per pound, but they have had to drop that price to eighty-five cents. He explains that they are giving the payment in two installments, which starts with thirty-five cents and a later payment of fifty cents.
