though not necessarily overseas. but the real problem seems to be the tv part of the business. and you have the stock down big-time this morning. this is a dow 30 stock. so that s a pretty big move. it had been the best-performing dow stock of the year. it was the darling of the dow. disney is still up 20% for the year. but there is clear and real fear on wall street about espn. espn is by far the most profitable part of disney. it will continue to do that. but it s showing some weakness. you can see the drop there. they ve lost high-profile talent this year. at least 1 million or 2 million people have dropped espn and chosen a smaller cable package in the last year or so. espn still has the vast majority 90 million-plus homes. but because there s been a little bit of a drop investors are concerned about what that
late. what do you think? i think merging is a good thing when your competitive position is eroding. from satellite and the fact that and the fact that consumers want to consume programming that was traditionally all this program over a cable wire. like you get everything. this huge amount of data. right. they want to narrow down. they don t care where they get it from. they could get it from a satellite provider. they want it on their internet. they are much more willing to say bye-bye to cable companies. what do these guys get by combining? what they get is they see that competitive landscape changing cutting the cord picking and choosing instead of buying the whole cable package from comcast. you pick and choose. it s cheaper. it puts comcast, cable vision all these other cable providers in a competitive advantage. they see that coming. what do they do meantime? they merge, cut costs. they get smaller.
