ship too much? he wants to be liked by a lot people and rocking the ship too much doesn t do that. i think it s an important point that zeke is making. we have to remember, he s going to make all these appointments, but donald trump is going to dictate policy. these people who, many of whom are used to being the boss, former ceos or whatever, are no longer going to be the boss. you have to watch both signals. it is what donald trump, you know, cares about the optics, wants to meet with al gore, doesn t want to be the guy that is dirtying the environment, but is really putting somebody in who will placate his base. we ll have to watch what the policies are. these cabinet selections only tell us so much about sort of checking a box in many ways. i don t know fully that it tells us how the agenda s going to roll out. when al gore was at trump tower earlier in the week, he emerged from that meeting, he seemed pretty upbeat about the conversation he had with the
international security at the atlantic council ian brzezinski. good to have you both onboard. congressman, we ve been talk did i say congressman? senator. they re both good jobs. my street lights will be ripped out by the time i get home. we ve been talking about how conservative these cabinet selections have been. does the epa selection cause you the greatest concern of all of them? i think epa causes a lot of concern. the idea that we are going to do a 180 on climate policy. i think it s disastrous from a number of perspectives. from a national security perspective as member of the foreign relations committee, i worry about it as well. i don t think there s any way to read the crises that have broken out without understanding the impact of the droughts that have
based on my conversations with carrier corporation, that s true. president-elect trump saying he saved 1,100 jobs. the reality is, peter, 300 of those jobs were already going to stay in place. so, chuck jones argument is, hey, why not be honest about that throughout this process? bottom line from the perspective of the president-elect, this was effectively his first win, so the fact that chuck jones is challenging him publicly is undercutti that. and it s also, i think, creating more controversy around twitter and his use of twitter. the fact he uses this format to take on these tit for tats. a lot of his supporters are saying, time to leave twitter alone now that you ve actually won the presidency. a lot of his supporters concerned it undercuts his authority. kristen, nice to talk to you. we ll check in about more cabinet selections. another major story getting
to t actions of mankind. the first line is categorically false. that debate is far from settled. you can argue degrees of impact, steve rattner, that human activity has on climate change, but actually the science behind it is not far from settled. if you think back five, six, seven years, it may not have been settled. there were people on both sides and there was a robust argument in the last three, four, five years that have been settled by evidence and by virtually every expert on the planet saying this is what s happening and we need to deal with it. so what is this pos post-ideological president doing with these cabinet selections. how does it impact his ability to have sway over states like wisconsin and michigan and pennsylvania, the three together going for a republican for the
appointments. i do. and the people you would surround yourself with in the white house. can you tell me specifically who you mentioned to president obama that you were considering appointing? i don t think that would be fair to him. but i have asked him what he would think of this one and that one. i ve asked him what he thinks are the biggest problems of the country, what are some of the greatest sets going forward. and we have a very good dialogue. let s bring in our guest tonight, nbc news correspondent hallie jackson covers donald trump for and you say is indoors tonight, we re happy to say. our political analyst nicole wallace is here, former communications director in the bush 43 white house. heidi przybyla for usa today. i was going to begin with the cabinet selections but the trump team kind of stepped on their own story with the twitter story. in 24 hours he s gone after a major american company and a steel workers local union. i spoke with chuck jones earlier. he
