Western Gas has advised that the Valaris MS-1 rig is due to commence tow to the Sasanof-1 location on 16 May 2022, with drilling operations expected to commence on 24 May 2022. The Sasanof Prospect covers an area of up to 400 km2 and is on trend and updip of Western Gas’ liquids rich, low CO2 Mentorc Field.
Western Gas has secured all necessary government approvals required to drill the Sasanof-1 exploration well on the North West Shelf. Sasanof is a 2U Prospective Resource of 7.2 Tcf gas and 176 Million bbls condensate (P50).
Global Oil & Gas has reported that Western Gas and ASX listed Prominence Energy have executed a binding Term Sheet for a 12.5% interest in the Sasanof-1 Prospect, located in permit WA-519-P, offshore Western Australia.
Western Gas has executed the formal contract with Valaris for the MS-1 semi-submersible rig to drill the Sasanof-1 exploration well in WA-519-P. The Sasanof Prospect is on trend and updip of the liquids rich, low CO2 Mentorc gas and condensate field and nearby the giant gas fields of Scarborough and Io-Jansz in the Carnarvon Basin.
