The Bharatiya Janata Party's Karnataka unit criticised Congress for flaunting luxury at a time when the state is reeling under a financial crisis and drought-like situation.
In a video that has gone viral from the run up to the Telangana assembly elections last month, Khan, who is the chief whip of the party, can be seen allegedly telling a gathering that the Congress had fielded 17 Muslim candidates in Karnatakas assembly polls this May, with five out the nine winners holding influential positions.
"No one (from the Muslim community) in the history of Karnataka had become the Speaker of the assembly. Congress party made U T Khader the Assembly Speaker. Today the best-of-the-best BJP leaders stand before Khader saying Sahab Namaskar . Who made him? It s Congress," Khan told a gathering.
