Two suspected armed burgars abandoned a van full of stolen quad bikes and motorcycles and ran onto live railway tracks after a police chase on the M62. The dangerous bid to avoid being captured by police happened in Halewood this morning.
Police said the dramatic scenes came after the men are believed to have used weapons hours earlier to force their way into a property in Blackburn, Lancashire some 52 miles away and over an hour s drive via the M62.
