Howard, Buxton, and Downtown Square Change to Two-Way Traffic Today

Howard and Buxton Streets, and the one blocks of Ashland and Salem on the Square, are converting to two-way streets throughout the day today. Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the change will be administered by several city departments and independent contractors, and the city asks for caution and patience from drivers during the conversion. Indianola tries to prepare drivers for the switch to two-way traffic around the city square George Shillcock, Des Moines Register Indianola replanting trees lost to storms, disease and construction over last decade Replay Video UP NEXT Change is coming to Indianola s downtown Square starting Monday, May 17, when traffic will convert from one-way to two-way for the city s streetscape project. The streets undergoing the conversion include Howard and Buxton streets from West Kentucky Avenue on the city s north side to Highway 92 just south of the Square. The change also includes all four sides of the Square, including West Salem and West Ashland avenues.

City of Indianola Putting Up Square Street Signs

As part of the Indianola Downtown Square traffic conversion to two-way on May 17th, the City of Indianola is putting up signs now that won’t go into effect until the change. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the signs will be covered until they go into effect, and residents along Howard and Buxton Streets will be receiving a letter detailing the change. Waller also said the city is asking residents to continue to be observant of the signage on the roads and to maintain the speed limit during the change.
