Bahrain’s first-ever satellite has been launched into orbit from International Space Station, after its arrival at ISS last year. Light-1 was launched from Japanese section of station alongside another satellite designed to detect terrestrial gamma rays.
ABU DHABI, 5th February, 2022 (WAM) In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Khalifa University Board of Trustees, and His Majesty Filip, King of the Belgians, the Khalifa University of Science and Technology, and the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) - University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium), have agreed to join forces to initiate a Biomedical Science Discovery (BISDI) program.
The agreement was signed by Homaid Al Shimmari, Member.
ABU DHABI, 3rd February, 2022 (WAM) The UAE-Bahraini Light-1 CubeSat was successfully launched into orbit from the International Space Station, in cooperation with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
Light-1 CubeSat is a collaboration initiative of the UAE Space Agency, Bahrain’s National Space Science Agency, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, and New York University (NYU) Abu Dhabi.
JAXA coordinated the launch from the Tsukuba Space Centre (TKSC) in Japan, and the event was broadcast live on social media channels. It was also live-streamed.
