Most of U.S. 180 to Deming will be ‘enhanced two-lane’ Written by Dean Thompson on March 6, 2021
The New Mexico Department of Transportation held a virtual public meeting Thursday night regarding reconstruction of U.S. 180 from Bayard to just north of Deming.
“This is the first step in a long process from design to construction,” said Trent Doolittle, District 1 engineer with the DOT. “This is a priority for District 1 [which covers the southwest portion of the state] and for the DOT as a whole.”
Based on findings of an analysis of the highway, the DOT laid out its recommendations:
• Reconstruct U.S. 180 in an undivided four-lane concept from Bayard to just south of Carrasco Avenue in Hurley.
