The changes take effect July 1, and officials hope they streamline the way they support their schools.
âI believe that the reassignments are going to [position] us now that weâre going to be back [teaching] face-to-face,â said board Chairman David Richardson. âAs we embark on our mantra of a new day, [that] new leadership and those reassignments are just kind of making sure everyoneâs on the right seat on the bus.
First, the board named Stan Winborne, now the assistant superintendent for operations and human resources, to the position of associate superintendent of curriculum, instruction and student services.
Winborne has served nearly 25 years with the district, and as head of curriculum and instruction will replace Michael Myrick, whoâs leaving to become superintendent of the Weldon City Schools.
HENDERSON â Area residents will find it easier to receive COVID-19 testing this spring.
Granville-Vance Public Health, OptumServe, the state of North Carolina, the Vance County Schools and the Granville County Public Schools are collaborating to make the testing available for members of the community.
Lisa Harrison, Granville-Vance health director, said the service is being offered at one central site in Vance County and at two sites in Granville County.
The sites and their hours of operation are:
⢠The parking lot for the Vance County Schools administration building, 1724 Graham Ave., Henderson, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
⢠Butner Stem Middle School, 501 East D St., Butner, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
