Crews extinguish spot fires from vehicle on Highway 22

A vehicle traveling on Highway 22 in Polk County sparked a number of small spot fires Wednesday evening.
Crews were initially called to a report of a wildland fire in the area of Butler Hill Road and Highway 22 at about 9 p.m., according to fire officials.
The first fire was extinguished by bystanders but additional small fires were reported on Highway 22 at Kings Valley Highway and the Rickreall interchange.
A deputy with the Polk County Sheriff s office stopped a vehicle with a mechanical failure and determined it was the source of the fires.
