The developer said Cantina Loca is expected to enhance the environment at Broadstone. The restaurant will have âupscale Mexican dishesâ as well as cocktails on its menu.
It is also expected to have a large patio designed to accommodate various weather conditions, such as fans to keep customers cool in the summer, electric heaters to keep them warm in colder months and roll down covers to protect the dinners from wind and rain.
The restaurant already has a website set up at www.cantina-loca.com as well as Facebook and Instagram pages. It can be found at @cantinalocatl on Facebook and @cantina loca on Instagram.
James Wilson, a recipient of a Presidentâs Volunteer Service Award, doesnât describe himself as a leader.
It may seem like an oxymoron, but Wilson, a deputy at the Gwinnett County Sheriffâs Office, sees himself as a man in the background. No matter what heâs doing to help others, usually with his green thumb, he works until heâs satisfied with the results.
âI want to serve,â Wilson said. âI think thatâs what my purpose in life has been, is to make the world a better place.â
The Presidentâs Volunteer Service Award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, according to a government site. Recipients are nominees Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers.

A group of dogs of various breeds and sizes are participating in a weekly training exercise at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. They follow basic commands like “sit” and “speak” and occasionally pull on the leash held by their handler, who is also an inmate at the jail.
Based on the happy tail-wagging and eagerness to train, it is hard to believe that the same group of dogs were each abandoned or neglected at some point, and narrowly escaped euthanasia.
One of Gwinnett Countyâs newly elected incoming officials has contracted COVID-19.
Gwinnett Sheriff-elect Keybo Taylor announced Tuesday night that he and an unspecified staff member tested positive for the coronavirus disease on Monday. Taylor said he has reached out to people he has been in contact with and that family members of himself and the staff member had been tested.
The family members have tested negative.
âCurrently, I am in quarantine and have decided, in a preponderance of caution, to postpone my swearing-in ceremony and all subsequent engagements,â Taylor said in a statement posted on his Facebook page. âIn the words of Dr. (Anthony) Fauci, we must allow the virus to establish the timeline.
