PRIME Minister Moeketsi Majoro has denied corruptly awarding a M22 million tender to a local company to supply testing kits for Covid-19.
Social media has been awash with allegations that Dr Majoro had ordered Green Leaves Medical Supplies to be given the tender to supply 100 000 antigen test kits to the Ministry of Health. This was allegedly done without following procurement regulations which require tender bids to be advertised and bidding companies to go through an evaluation process before the winner is chosen among other things.

PRIME Minister Moeketsi Majoro and Deputy Prime Minister Mathibeli Mokhothu have reassured “worried” Southern African Development Community (SADC) leaders that their government remains stable and will last its full tenure despite the split in the All Basotho Convention (ABC).
This was said by the prime minister’s press attaché, Buta Moseme, in an interview with the
Lesotho Times yesterday.
Mr Moseme was speaking in the aftermath of this week’s visit by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s special envoy, Jeff Radebe.
Mr Radebe was accompanied by South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Candith Mashego-Dlamini, and Deputy Minister of State Security, Zizi Kodwa. THE ruling All Basotho Convention (ABC)’s national executive committee (NEC) will meet again tomorrow to discuss the contentious issue of Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro’s removal from office.
Tomorrow’s crunch meeting follows the first meeting on 8 February 2021 which was inconclusive as the divided NEC failed to come up with a single definitive position on the issue. After the meeting, two factions led by erstwhile allies, deputy leader Nqosa Mahao and secretary general Lebohang Hlaele issued conflicting statements.
Mr Hlaele’s faction, which includes spokesperson Montoeli Masoetsa, said the NEC had resolved to recall Dr Majoro while the Mahao faction other rebuffed the claim as a “big fat lie”.
