THE anticipated Mpumalanga cabinet reshuffle took place yesterday with four new MECs chosen.
Rumours of a planned reshuffle surfaced in January after allegations of a planned vote of no confidence against Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane.
The four new MECs include Speedy Mashilo for human settlements, Busisiwe Shiba for co-operative governance and traditional affairs, Vusi Mkhatshwa for finance, economic development and tourism and Mohita Latchminarain for public works, roads and transport.
Vusi Shongwe has been moved to community safety, security and liaison, Thandi Shongwe to sport and recreation, Mandla Msibi to agriculture and Lindiwe Ntshalintshali will take over the social development department.

Mpumalanga premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane on Wednesday reshuffled her cabinet.
“It is in the spirit of optimising our effectiveness and ensuring that we deliver better services to the people of Mpumalanga while calibrating the provincial economy that I announce changes to the executive component of the provincial government,” she said.
Her new members of the executive council include Speedy Mashilo, who will be responsible for the department of human settlements, and Busisiwe Shiba, who will be responsible for the department of co-operative governance and traditional affairs.
MEC Vusi Mkhatshwa will be responsible for finance, economic development and tourism and MEC Mohita Latchminarain will be responsible for the department of public works, roads and transport.

The DA on Wednesday said it believed the reshuffling of the Mpumalanga cabinet was a clear reflection of the political factions at play in the province.
“It is clear that the Refilwe (Mtshweni-Tsipane] faction is gaining strength against the [David] Mabuza faction, however whatever the battles within the ANC, the DA in Mpumalanga will continue to hold the executive to account. Ultimately the people of the province must come above ANC petty politics,” said Jane Sithole, the DA Mpumalanga provincial leader.
