The local government of Quezon City has now exempted delinquent real property tax owners from paying interests accumulated from unpaid previous taxes.
This came after the city council passed Ordinance No. SP-2979, which grants tax amnesty on all outstanding real property tax liabilities and delinquencies on land, building or improvements, and machineries, as assessed by the City Assessor’s Office.
In signing the measure, Mayor Joy Belmonte said that city officials recognize “the long-term effect of COVID-19, which may burden citizens financially.”
“We will continue to provide compassionate support for all our residents and businesses who are still feeling the effects of COVID-19 on our economy,” she said.
