St. Johns County will soon be home to a multimillion-dollar education center and museum focused on mosquitoes.
The Anastasia Mosquito Control District, a special taxing district in St. Johns County, plans to build a 6,000-square-foot complex to educate both children and adults about mosquitoes, mosquito control and insect-borne diseases, district Business Manager Richard Weaver said.
The facility will be at the district s existing complex at 120 EOC Drive near the State Road 16 and Interstate 95 interchange, and it s expected to be built by the summer of 2022.
The center will also aim to inspire people to practice good mosquito control, which can help prevent the spread of diseases, and to get involved in science, district officials said.
