Federal government funding to the tune of almost $1 million for Australia’s peak wine association will help wine producers tap into markets outside of China but more needs to be done to drive consumer demand, a South Australian wine producer says. Richard Dolan, co-owner of Bec Hardy Wines, says no amount of funding for industry diversification to other markets will make up for the loss in the China market since trade disputes last year.  “The maths is indisputable,” Dolan tells SmartCompany. The federal government announced it will give Australian Grape & Wine a $998,000 grant to explore new international marketing options for locally produced premium wines, with marketing pilots set to launch in Japan and South Korea.

The project will look to build on our clean and green reputation to grow Australian exports. The Australian Nut Industry Council (ANIC) has received a $550,000 grant from the Australian Government to implement a trade and market access expansion program. Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia David Littleproud said the grant would put in place a two-pronged strategy to increase the market share for Australian nut growers. “The project will draw on industry research into high-growth markets for Aussie nuts including the UK and India,” Minister Littleproud said.
