talking about with john king. that is i talked to a source close to the president. president trump earlier this morning who said the bush family was very gracious in inviting president trump, first lady melania trump to the services this morning. there was another outreach in the truce between the bush and trump families. that is when president trump selected brett kavanaugh for the supreme court. one of the first people that he called to notify the world of this decision that he had made was the former president george w. bush, bush 43. bush 43, the bush family took that as something as an olive branch according to the source close to president trump. it was very well received. i think that also helped foster this truce that we are seeing today, although it may be uncomfortable to watch at times. i think the other thing we should point out, wolf, is that for all the talk of trump world, we are seeing president trump in the middle of bush world right now, sort of the greatest
there are parts of george bush s america that are sustained. what was fascinating was to watch president trump sign this new trade agreement with mexico and canada. nafta was negotiated by george bush. we have this extraordinary transition in effect from the bush view of the world to the trump view of the world. president trump has trashed nafta. he said it was a terrible deal, a disaster. my deal is much better. in fact, it does accept the bush premise which is that there should be integration between the three great nations of north america. and so you see this dichotomy, this conflict between the bush world and the trump world that s replacing it. i think everybody there was pretty cognizant of it. as you say, the irony or the timing of this particular moment in our history coming at that global session brings home a lot of these larger things. and those who will be critical of this administration, the train is leaving the station and the united states may not be
somewhere at 15 million u.s. dollars for security and logistics. one ofpresidt s top officials, the white house deputy chief of staff for operations, joe hagen, who actually comes out of bush world, having served both presidents bush in the past, it was his charge tory to negotiate with north koreans. and sources tell me that was a difficult task because of the lack of trust over time and part of what was required was trying d get the north koreans to agree to some of the stagecraft that we have seen, the grng the display of the flags, who would be in the room, who would note in the room. all of that was part of a negotiation that i m told at times contentious and difficult. at times there was no cooperation from north korea at all. a times a willingness to step forwar joe hagen has a lot of experience in this. he was one of the top officials doing it. and then separately there have been delegations referred to as a working group led by
spend all that money with the consultants, 15% people on the undgrowe have eight people in iowa. we are trying to build an infrastructure who matches who the candidate is. he goes to rallies and forums in standing room only. when you get to march 1 that s a great map for ted cruz. not all southern states are created equally. his home state is in there. i wouldn t count out jeb bush in the following way. he will have the money to compete. i think the calculation over there in bush world is that you get to big win or take all states bush people have money to lay six or seven million in the do they have the candidate? is bush a candidate that can win? that s the point. there is no substitute for a good candidate. jeb bush, i can t
this is now exposed in a very public way, sort of the roiling feeling beneath the surface of bush world. this exposure has been met with some perhaps less than charitable reactions, kathleen. dick cheney sort of alludes to the iron-ass comments as sort of a compliment but donald rums femd had the least charitable reaction today which was bush 41 is getting up in years and misjudges bush 43 who i found made his own decisions. there are hundreds of memos on www.rumsfeld.com that represent advice dod gave the president. i m just delighted we could all say iron-ass on television now. all day long. donald rumsfeld is no spring chicken himself. i think he s about 83 years old.
