Stubborn, Defiant: For US Media, the Buck Does Stop With Joe Biden for Afghan Chaos

While Joe Biden stood by his decision and reiterated the American people's wish for their forces to return home, for the American media, the buck does stop with Biden, but for the devastation in Afghanistan while the Taliban took control.

than the clear victories in world war ii and other than those victories, there s no exit of a war that you haven t won that isn t utterly messy that involves abandoning people who were on your side. i feel if people don t like, if they re revolted in any way by what they re seeing in afghanistan tonight, it s because they re revolted by the horrors of war, as they should be, and we re never going to have a war that doesn t have these elements. there is more to be done right now, though. i mean, having 6,000 u.s. troops back there for a specific purpose right now to secure that airport, as my previous guest was saying, to have a beach head there, to get our allies evacuated, to get all people associated with the u.s. military, u.s. agency, u.s. media, everybody who helped us who wants to get out who we can get out, that can be done now.

elements. there is, more to be done right now though. having 6000 u.s. troops, back there for a specific purpose right now, to secure that airport. as my previous guest was saying, to have a beach had there. to get our allies evacuated. to get all the people associated with the u.s. military, u.s. agencies, u.s. media, everybody that helped, up everybody that wants to get out who we can get, out that can be done now. and that, that is not a parallel, with vietnam. if we make the most of the evacuation portal, that is just been forced open at cobbles airport. the taliban did not fight their way into kabul. the taliban is not fighting to stop these evacuations. they re 6000 troops that will be there within days, to get these evacuations going. if they can happen, if that can be scaled massively, then a lot of the moral disgrace, in a lot of the human suffering, that is preventable, will be prevented. some of it s not preventable.

when eta, what do you make of the fact that among other, things president biden has not made a public appearance today. secretary of state anthony blinken was on a number of the sunday morning programs, including meet the press over an embassy, trying to defend the administration s actions, but he s not the commander-in-chief. where is president biden? i feel like president biden is making the move of let me get as much more information as it unfolds as possible, to be able to pivot when necessary. because right now what we have seen, are a few pivots. as he s got more information from the joint chiefs, as well as the secretary of defense, he s added additional troops on the ground twice over the weekend, to get those americans safely out of afghanistan. as well as to get the tens of thousands afghan citizens who did help u.s. troops, u.s. media. i feel like he is hunkering down, paying close attention to this, and secretary blinken is out definitely doing his rounds on the sunday
