Gumla: A day after five members of a family were found hacked to death at a village in Gumla district, police on Thursday said they believe the murder.
Gumla: Five members of a family, including a five-year-old boy, were hacked to death by unidentified assailants late on Tuesday night in Buruhatu Pahar-Amtoli village in Kamdara police station area of Gumla district.
Gumla SP Hrudeep P Janardhanan said, “Prima facie, it seems to be a case of enmity. Investigation is underway.” The bodies were sent for post-mortem, the SP said, adding an FIR against unknown persons has been filed with the Kamdara police station.
The deceased were identified as Nikodin Topno (60), his wife Josefina Topno (55), the couple’s son Vincent (35), daughter-in-law Silvanti (30) and their five-year-old grandson Albin, police said. The lone member of the Topno family, Vincent and Silvanti’s elder child Anjala, survived as she lives at a relative’s home in Ranchi for her studies.
