The Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau has provided an update on the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks World Heritage nomination. They report the completed dossier is anticipated to be reviewed by the UN International Council on Monuments and Sites in late 2022 or early 2023.
Burt Logan, Executive Director and CEO of the Ohio History Connection, said they are optimistic that the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks will be on the World Heritage List in just a few short years.
The nomination includes the five sites of Hopewell Culture National Historical Park in Ross County. Being on the prestigious World Heritage List is also an economic boon to tourism and local businesses.
