The East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, which operates the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley Hospital sites, registered five more COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours to take the total up to 1,003. In the North West, Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust has had the most number of deaths with 1,545, followed by Liverpool University Hospital (1,515) and Manchester University Trust (1,120).

Almost 35,000 people test positive for coronavirus as daily infections rise by 430 A further 430 people have tested positive for the coronavirus across East Lancashire.  In the last 24 hours, Blackburn with Darwen recorded 117 positive coronavirus tests, taking the borough s total to 11,401. The second highest rise in infections came from Burnley, with 97 new cases registered since Monday, meaning the area has now recorded a total of 6,041 positive tests since the pandemic began. Hyndburn recorded the third highest number of new cases in the last 24 hours, with a further 71 people testing positive for the virus. This means a total of 4,611 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the borough.
