The intensity of the flames surprised a lot of us because earlier today, all of those hillsides were on fire. Chops were dropping, making water drops earlier. You can see the spots smoldering and there are a lot of firefighters working hard to make sure its under control. The flames that started high up in the hills made their way down to the valley floor where its more populated. Firefighters will continue their attack on this ramping up the attack with more air attacks when the sun comes up. This section kicked up at 10 00 yesterday morning across Sugarloaf Ridgeline moving north from kenwood toward santa rosa. Firefighters waging attacks throughout the day dropping fire retardant with airplanes and water with helicopters as crews work to reinforce the containment line trying to stop the destruction. We have people sitting right on top of these homes. We have a fire truck sitting in the driveway because the last thing we want is to lose more homes.
